Safety Shoes Program - Puget Sound/Portland 

The Safety Shoe Reimbursement program was first negotiated during the 1999 labor contract and reinforced in the 2002, 2005, and 2008 contracts. Eligibility
All actively employed IAM-represented employees governed by the collective bargaining agreement between The Boeing Company and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) Districts 24, 70, and 751 are eligible to receive a reimbursement of up to $75 for approved safety shoes according to HSI program guidelines. We encourage employees to let the sales personnel know they work for Boeing. This will help ensure they receive the proper itemized receipt and in some cases they may even receive a discount.

Employees can submit a reimbursement application form once per calendar year to cover their purchase of one pair of safety shoes up to the $75 limit. Applications must be accompanied by the original itemized sales receipt.

Once we receive the application and original itemized receipt and are able to verify the purchase, reimbursements are uploaded to payroll and are reflected on the employee's scheduled paycheck.
Reimbursement time is subject to our staff being able to verify the purchase in a timely manner.

Provisions and requirements of the Safety Shoe Reimbursement Program are subject to change according to the policies determined by the IAM/Boeing Joint Programs National Governing Board.

What is a "Mandatory Compliance" Safety Shoe Area?
An area designated as requiring the use of safety shoes based on a risk assessment performance by local SHEA, in accordance with OSHA standards.

What does "Company Directed" mean?
The immediate supervisor of the requesting employee can approve/authorize the employee to go above and beyond any defined safety standard. The supervisor concurs that the employee desires to improve their personal foot safety and authorizes the employee to pursue reimbursement for the purchase of approved safety shoes. This does not imply that safety shoes are required for the area or this employee.
