Portland Site Committee The HSI Portland Site Committee works proactively to enhance the health and safety of all Portland employees in the factory environment. The committee consists of a dedicated team of IAM-represented employees, management, SHEA, IAM staff, and other affected groups.
The Site Committee meets monthly and conducts walk-throughs to identify potential problems before they happen. They conduct classes under sponsorship of the IAM/Boeing Health and Safety Institute. Site-specific initiatives like MoveSmart, Community Safety Programs, and Incident Investigation have moved the emphasis to incident prevention instead of reaction.
For in-depth information, including meeting minutes, walk-through results, and SHEAR form resolution, contact a member of your Site Committee directly.
A vital goal of the Health and Safety Institute is to promote training that relates to employees.
This means involving employees in both the development and delivery of training for programs such as "Lockout, Tag, Tagout," and "Hazard Communication."
The training that we provide is designed to build relationships between stewards and supervisors and all employees so they can work together to resolve health and safety issues.
The Institute sponsors a number of other classes aimed at educating employees and managers on many aspects of safety and health.
The courses are developed to be relevant, timely, and consistent. To learn more about each of the Institute-sponsored training courses, click on the links below.
