The Quality Through Training Program Mission: "To identify and provide opportunities and the environment to support employee involvement in activities that will enable participants to meet their development needs, thereby providing highly skilled workers capable of meeting individual and company goals."
We're Helping Employees Shape Their Future: Through QTTP, the Union and The Boeing Company are working together to assist employees impacted by technology change, job combinations, or redeployment. Since it began in 1989, QTTP has helped many thousands of IAM-represented employees in Washington, Oregon and Kansas cope with a changing workplace and achieve their individual career goals.
Professional career advisors at each of the six QTTP sites offer skills assessments and educational and career guidance. Computer labs at each site host an array of computer, skills and personal development classes, and QTTP instructors also go into the factory with customized training to meet the specific needs of an area.
QTTP offers services in the Employee Development & Resource Centers (EDRC) located near the workplace in Everett, Renton, Seattle and Wichita. These centers offer advising, computer training and skill development-based classes to employees.
QTTP Career Guides and Career Explorer, used in conjunction with Workforce's new hourly Employee Requested Transfer (ERT)/ Career Explorer process, provide an effective way for employees to select, apply for, and document that they have met the entry level requirements for new jobs.
QTTP has partnered with Learning, Training and Development (LTD) and BCA Manufacturing & Quality to implement the Production Systems Improvement (PSI) Training system to ensure workers have the skills they need to perform their jobs.
QTTP also provides services to active, WARNed and laid-off IAM-represented employees.

Technology Change:
One of the goals of the Quality Through Training Program is to assist IAM-represented employees impacted by technology change by providing opportunities to maintain or improve job skills in a changing workplace. A major factor for QTTP's success in these programs has been the high level of involvement and support by IAM-represented employees, shop stewards and union representatives.

By working together in partnerships with Subject Matter Experts from the workforce and their organizations, QTTP has assisted employees in many areas. QTTP may be able to help if there has been a change in tools, methods, processes, equipment or materials used in your workplace. For more information, contact the QTTP office nearest you.

Job Combinations:
The Quality Through Training Program investigates the implications of job combinations and develops training recommendations to assist employees in transition. After the decision to combine job families is made, QTTP continues to work hand-in-hand with the Corporate Jobs Committee to assess what training is required, determine availability of training, develop new training, monitor the training for effectiveness and provide a delivery system in the most convenient way possible for the IAM-represented employees and the workplace.

Career and Personal Development:
All QTTP sites offer Career and Personal Development opportunities to IAM-represented employees -- including Education Assistance, Essential Skills Training, Career Guides/Career Explorer, and Career Advising.

During confidential advising sessions, employees meet with professional Career Advisors on a one-to-one basis and develop individual career development and training plans. Advisors can also offer educational assessments that help employees explore their own knowledge, skills, abilities and goals. Besides personal assessments, advisors assist with resumes and offer direction for obtaining training and education, including computer-based training and customized classes.

Career Advisors also refer employees to schools and programs funded under the Education Assistance Program, and help them choose schools and programs that meet their needs and aspirations.
