DC/Kent
The Developmental Center/Kent (DC/Kent) Site Committee is a team of IAM-represented employees, managers, SHEA personnel and an IAM Business Representative from the sites who work together to find solutions to safety issues in their areas. Chartered to, among other activities, conduct monthly safety tours based on accident injury, rates, SHEAR forms, organization safety plans and goals and objectives, the DC/Kent Site Committee is the team that provides this service for the Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) in the Puget Sound area. Site committee members also participate in safety training, under the guidance of the IAM/Boeing Health and Safety Institute, assist in SHEAR resolution, and provide support to employees and their managers in solving area specific safety issues.

Plant 2

The HSI Plant 2 Site Committee takes its safety mission seriously. It was one of the first areas to develop Incident Investigation training, which is a very successful course for anyone who may be asked to perform and incident investigation. It was also one of the first to set up area safety teams, which have proved to be very helpful in lowering some organizations’ lost day case rate (LWDCR) to their lowest ever.

The committee consists of a dedicated team of IAM-represented employees, management, SHEA, IAM staff, and other affected groups.

The Site Committee meets monthly and conducts a walk-through to identify and resolve potential problems before they can happen. They conduct classes under the sponsorship of the IAM/Boeing Health and Safety Institute.

Renton
The Renton Site Committee has a long history of safety initiatives, starting even before the Health and Safety Institute was negotiated into being. A group of concerned employees worked together to create and train employees on Lockout-Tag-Tryout processes that protect employees from injuries.

Today's Renton Site Committee is a dedicated team of IAM-represented employees, management, SHEA, IAM staff, and other affected groups who step forward when safety issues arise and work together to find solutions. The Site Committee meets monthly and conducts a walk-through to identify and resolve potential problems before they can happen. They conduct classes under the sponsorship of the IAM/Boeing Health and Safety Institute.

Safety Training

A vital goal of the Health and Safety Institute is to promote training that relates to employees.

This means involving employees in both the development and delivery of training for programs such as "Lockout, Tag, Tagout," and "Hazard Communication."

The training that we provide is designed to build relationships between stewards and supervisors and all employees so they can work together to resolve health and safety issues.

The Institute sponsors a number of other classes aimed at educating employees and managers on many aspects of safety and health.

The courses are developed to be relevant, timely, and consistent. To learn more about each of the Institute-sponsored training courses, click on the links below.
