A state-of-the-art Mobile Training Lab was jointly developed
and built by the IAM/Boeing Health and Safety Institute and
the Facilities Services organization in 1999-2000. The efforts
of these 150 Boeing employees, which included union craftspeople,
paint team members, and engineering employees, as well as
representatives from Learning, Education and Development (LTD)
and Safety, Health and Environmental Affairs (SHEA), went
into the creation of this 48-foot mobile training facility.
The Mobile Training Lab was built to provide much-needed
hands-on safety training for approximately 2,500 Facilities
employees in the Puget Sound area and Portland, Oregon who
have a training requirement for either Lockout, Tag, Tryout
or Confined Space entry non-aircraft. Because the trailer
is mobile, "just in time" training is now provided.
The training lab also includes a simulated bridge crane system
to assist in teaching correct lockout procedures for cranes.
