Roles and Responsibilities

Success Stories

HCT Core

HCT brings together union representatives with knowledge of hazard communication in the factory, company representatives from Safety Health and Environmental Affairs (SHEA), Material and Process Technology (M&PT), and company and union representatives from the Health and Safety Institute in a "Core Team" that provides continuous reviews of health and safety issues in the workplace. Operating under the Joint Programs National Governing Board, the team meets at least monthly to address current hazcom problems, as well as to anticipate potential hazcom concerns that may be associated with emergent situations.

Its successes include the development of interactive training systems reaching 40,000 employees, effective coordination with the Boeing Company on issues like toxicology, industrial hygiene, and engineering, and its current joint process for effective and speedy communication of changes in the shop that could affect workers.

The Team follows a carefully thought out set of roles and responsibilities.
