Education Assistance

The Education Assistance Program is one of QTTP's most recognized and successful services. Whether you plan to continue in your present work or seek a career change, Education Assistance (EA) provides both active and laid-off IAM-represented employees opportunities for training and education.

Important Announcement Program Policies and Tip Sheets

All IAM-represented employees in Districts 751, 24 and 70 who are active on the start date of their courses can apply and receive a voucher for the full tuition for training at accredited educational or training institutions, or up to the QTTP funding limit per calendar year for non-accredited, but QTTP-approved, training. QTTP will continuously monitor the content and quality of approved training courses. In addition, active employees completing an associate, bachelors, masters, or doctoral degree receive Boeing stock units. Employees also can take flight training through QTTP Education Assistance and receive the special incentive payments available to all Boeing employees once they solo or earn their flying license.

Laid-off hourly employees with one year or more of seniority upon layoff and with layoff codes 1101, 1110, 1127, 1128, 1129 or 9320 can receive benefits for up to three years after their date of layoff. Laid-off employees with less than one year of seniority may receive one year of assistance from their date of layoff.

Each year, the EA Team reviews and updates the EA Guidelines in order to continuously improve our services for our customers as well as make the best use of the allocated annual budget. Click here to see the current EA Guidelines.

You are encouraged to take advantage of QTTP's career advising services to help you plan your education and employment goals and optimize your time and effort. Career Advisors can refer employees to schools and programs funded under the Education Assistance Program, and help them choose schools and programs that meet their needs and aspirations. Assessment, referral and advising services are offered to meet the needs of employees with different interests, goals and skill levels.

QTTP career advising is available at each of our seven locations: Auburn, Everett, Frederickson, Portland, Tukwila, and Wichita. Once you have made your education plan, you can apply directly for QTTP Education Assistance using the EA Application or use our online application.

Provisions and requirements of Education Assistance are subject to change according to available funding and the policies determined by the IAM/Boeing Joint Programs National Governing Board.
