College Student Development programs are for community college students who have their eye on a future in aerospace manufacturing or assembly. The Boeing Company management and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers are proud to be sponsors of these programs in the Portland metro area.
To be considered, students must be at least 18 years old; have a 2.5 GPA or higher; be currently enrolled in their school's machining program and have completed at least 50% of the core machining curriculum; and obtain a recommendation from an instructor.
To be considered, students must be at least 18 years old; have a 2.5 GPA or higher; be currently enrolled in their school's A&P (Airframe and Powerplant) program and have completed the Airframe certificate portion of the curriculum; and obtain a recommendation from an instructor. After applications have been received, Boeing conducts a down-select process and then invites students to a formal, in-person structured interview. Pending the results of that process, up to 10 students are offered positions as summer interns for machining and up to 8 students are offered positions for assembly internships. Programs are non-residential and each intern is responsible for their own food, transportation and housing.
Machining Students participate in a seven-week summer job-shadow program in various machining areas.
Assembly Students participate in a five-week job-shadow program corresponding to the break between the Airframe and Powerplant portions of their college program, typically late summer/early fall.
